NO GREEN MONSTERS

                 I’ve looked in the closet for monsters.
                There are no monsters there,
                Or under the bed or behind the chair.
                I’ve looked about everywhere.

                Now, I was just looking for green ones.
                So maybe we’re not through.
                Do you think I should go and look again
                For purple, or red, or blue?

            I’ve looked for the purple monsters.
               There’s none of them to be seen.
               So now I’m sure you’re perfectly safe
               From purple and from green.

                So now if you’re really ready,
                It’s off to sleep you go.
                Or must I check for every one
                Of the colors that you know?

                I’ve looked in the closet for monsters,
                Lavender, pink, and blue,
                And every color you can name,
                And now I’m sleepy, too.
