         I WISH

I wish I was an eagle in the sky.
I’d soar in lazy circles way up high.
I’d scan with eagle eye for miles around,
Then close my wings and plummet to the ground.

But still,

When it comes time to rest its weary head
Does eagle have a nice, warm, cozy bed?

Oh well.

I wish.

I wish I was a furry polar bear.
I’d never have to worry what to wear.
I’d ride my floating iceberg all day long.
And if I get too lonely, sing a song.

But still,

When arctic winter comes and daylight ends,
I think I’d really want to be with friends.

Oh well.

I wish.

I wish I was a big electric light.
I’d shine on all the people nice and bright.
I’d shine on all the little girls and boys,
Their bikes and trikes and all their other toys.

But still,

When daytime comes and kids go out to play
Is any light as half as bright as day?

Oh well.

I wish.  I wish.  Well now, let’s see.
I guess I wish that I could just be me.
