ELEPHANT
.
Somebody made a great, big goof.
An elephant’s sleeping on my roof!
How it got up there, I haven't a clue.
Maybe it jumped or maybe it flew.
He may be friendly, but just the same,
I wish he’d go back the way he came.
What would you think, and what would you say,
If you came home from school one day,
And there on your roof was a big surprise –
An elephant right before your eyes?
Would you be scared? I guess I might.
An elephant’s such an enormous sight.
He may be friendly, but just the same,
I wish he’d go back the way he came.
“Fire Department? Can you help us?
I hate to make an awful fuss.”
“But there’s this elephant here, you see.
It’s up on the roof, right over me.”
“Well, is it on fire? ” the fireman said.
“Is it giving off smoke or glowing red?”
“Well, no, but I don’t know what to do.”
“You don’t need us. You should call the zoo.”
“Is this the zoo? I’m calling to say,
There’s an elephant here at my house today.”
“Well, thank you. We’ve been wondering where
He could have gone. It gave us a scare.
He’s really quite friendly, but likes to roam.
We’ll come right over and bring him home.
A big helicopter took him away,
And all of my friends to this very day
Don’t believe me at all, and say it’s a spoof,
But I had an elephant on my roof.
